A day in the life : Sophie, Packaging Manager at Galimard

Welcome to Galimard : today, we are interviewing Sophie !
At this start of the new year, we invite you to continue the tour of our Perfume House : We already discovered the shop, the lab, and management – now, we are heading to the packaging atelier, where we find Sophie, who, with her team, ensures the smooth running of this service : from filling bottles and labeling, to order preparation for shipment, it’s a big responsibility ! She has kindly taken some time to respond to our questions today.
Hi Sophie, what year did you start with Galimard ?
November 1984.
It’s been awhile ! What made you decide to stay?
Before everything, it’s the professional stability that I have found.
What did you do when you first started working here?
At the beginning, my work consisted mainly of packaging, labeling, and cargo handling.
And what do you do today ?
Today, I am the manager of the atelier, which means daily management of production activity. My role consists of supervising teams, ensuring everything runs smoothly in the production process. I am also in charge of project organisation and task planning.
Your tasks have really evolved, what do you like the best about what you do ?
What I like most about my current role is the variety of responsibilities that challenge me every day. I enjoy the opportunity of supervising and guiding my team. What motivates me the most, is to see concrete results of our collective work and to know that we have reached our goals together.
Are there some tasks you enjoy less, and why ?
There are certain administrative tasks, like reporting, that are less interesting to me. They can be repetitive, but I do understand their importance for the smooth running of the atelier.
Do you remember the first perfume Galimard that you wore ? And if so, does it still exist ?
Canaïca, still existing
Which perfumes do you wear today?
It’s a fragrance that emits a sensation of purity and freshness, almost like fresh linens that have just been washed. It is light and pleasant.
Which perfume from Galimard do you like to give as a gift, to a man, and a woman ?
Sportissimo or Mezzanotte for men and Solenzara for women.
Yes, I tried the fragrance ‘Juste un zeste‘ from the collection ‘Instants Riviera‘. It’s a very fresh fragrance, with a citrus base, which I really enjoyed for it’s invigorating yet light scent.
Have you ever worked in another service than the atelier, and which one ?
Yes, I have worked in the boutique, where I handled sales.
Do you have an anecdote or a memorable moment to share with us ?
Oh yes ! The 29 july 2020, I went to help out at the Studio des Fragrances Galimard, and I had the opportunity to see Jean-Paul Belmondo : he came to create his perfume and with the whole team we had a great time. I even got the privilege of sitting in the Cadillac of this incredible actor who I like very much, I’ll never forget this moment!
