La fleur d'oranger

Orange Blossom

Few flowers emit such an impactful fragrance as this little white blossom.

Its scent ignites our memory of taste as much as our olfactory memory, as many of us have been exposed to it since childhood, especially in France. It is often used to add flavor to crepes, beignets, and pastries. It can also be found in products for babies and infants ; orange blossom is widely used in France.

It’s a comforting, soft, fresh and relaxing scent. Your great grandparents may remember when children were given a bit of diluted orange blossom water just before bed to help them get to sleep.

Un arbre de bigaradier

Orange blossom grows on the bigaradier or Bitter Orange, a tree originally from the Middle East and cultivated in Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and Provence, to name a few.

The bigaradier or Bitter Orange is a generous tree. It provides not only sour oranges for marmelades, but other important primary materials for the perfumer : by distilling its leaves and branches, petit grain essential oil is produced – often used in eau de Cologne.

From it’s flowers, neroli oil is extracted with distillation, and pure Orange Blossom oil is obtained with extraction using solvents.

A symbol of purity, the Orange Blossom was often used to crown young brides.

This connotation, along with it’s frequent association to babies (strongly driven by marketing initiatives by cosmetic companies) is just one small aspect of this beautiful fragrance, which can be used to create very sophisticated and special perfumes.

We invite you to rediscover the Orange Blossom via these special fragrances where it is used as a harmonious note within a symphony of florals and fruits : our cheerful summer fragrance « Solenzara » for example, or perhaps « A demi-mot », which is a composition tying Orange Blossom to a sister essence : Tuberose.

Eau de parfum À demi-mot - Galimard, parfumeur à Grasse

If you are seeking a purer rendition of the fragrance, you will love our latest eau de Cologne, available also in 500 ml. Orange Blossom is also an excellent choice of home fragrance, as it has a fresh and clean scent. Galimard offers the pure fragrance as a diffuser, candle, or in a spray in the “Les jours dorés” mood range.

Perfume, ambiance… and so much more ! The Orange Blossom (as neroli essential oil) is also included within the precious elixir of our new cosmetic collection «Lumiere ». The serum is only lightly fragranced, featuring regenerative properties and anti-oxidants.

From pastry to cosmetic care, perfumes to diffusers, the Orange Blossom is a highly adaptable fragrance
