Quai des brumes

“The greatest decisions should be made before small bottles”. You may be thinking this quote is from a grand perfumer from his fragrance organ, but it is actually from a famous film made in 1938 !

85 years later, during this lovely spring where the roses blossomed and we celebrated cinema in Cannes, Galimard is honoring the great history of French cinema with the name of our latest perfume for men, « Quai des Brumes ».

The history of our perfume house is deeply linked with the history of Grasse, and maintaining this identity is at the heart of our choice of which primary materials to use in our perfumes, and often of their names. Some of our most loyal clients may remember the fragrances « Soir de Grasse » or « Grasse à toi, » and still in our collection today is « Un hiver à Grasse »

This year, the proximity of the sea and of Cannes, the city of cinema, has inspired a masculine composition as timeless as the unforgettable film it is named for.  

With a head note composed of lavender and green apple providing a tart and aromatic opener, the heart note provides elegance with vetiver, santal, and star anise, all reposing on the base notes of musk and moss, softened with a touch of vanilla… 

There is a legendary moment in the movie « Quai des Brumes », when Jean Gabin says to Michèle Morgan « t’as d’beaux yeux tu sais » or « you have beautiful eyes, you know… » and she slowly approaches and replies “tu sens bon, tu sais…” or “you smell nice, you know…”
